Simba x KFC: A Tale of crunchy collaboration unveiled in epic new campaign directed by Lebogang Rasethaba for M&C Saatchi Abel

Egg Films’ director Lebogang Rasethaba delivers an epic blend of humour and mystery in the latest campaign for Simba x KFC, brought to life by agency M&C Saatchi Abel. The campaign, which includes two commercials titled ‘Happy Mistake’ and ‘Mission Flavour’, introduces Simba’s latest chip flavour, KFC’s iconic Original Recipe.

Starring the ever-charismatic Mpho Popps, the ads dive into the outrageous tales of how Simba might have gotten their paws on KFC’s closely guarded secret recipe. In the end, while no one knows exactly how Simba acquired the recipe, one thing is clear: everyone is glad they did.
Lebogang’s direction perfectly balances the mystery and humour, with wonderfully quirky performances from his actors whose comedic timing and energy give the commercials an irresistible charm.

“Sometimes as a director, you need to learn to get out of the way of an idea, and when you work with a solid idea and a comedic genius like Mpho Popps, my job becomes really simple. I just created the conditions for comedy to thrive and I sat back in the director’s chair cry-laughing and overdosing on Simba chips,” says Lebogang.
