'One Source Live' Absolut brand film, directed by Sunu

Hailing from the townships of Zimbabwe during the turmoil of the Civil War, Sunu’s career path reads more like a movie than real life. His sporting abilities enabled him to travel and study, resulting in a degree in Organizational Psychology from the University of Cape Town.

Despite having started out his working career as a banker, Sunu quickly realized his passion was in film.  His filmmaking career has seen him tackle many formats from commercials, to short films, feature films and TV Series.

He has directed commercials for the likes of Standard Bank, Castle Lager and Coronation. Most notably his One Source music video with Khuli Chana for Absolut won Gold, two Silvers and a Bronze at Cannes Lions and was the most awarded campaign at The Bookmarks in 2017. He went on to be the top-ranked Director at the Loerie Awards that same year.

Sunu landed his first feature directing assignment in 2006 with Lionsgate, Pride, which tells the true story of Jim Ellis (played by Academy Award nominee Terrence Howard) – a black swimming coach who transformed the lives of troubled inner city youths in Philadelphia. He has since directed episodes of Snowfall and Madam Secretary, a People’s Choice nominated series with Tea Leoni.

Sunu is currently editing his 2nd feature film which was filmed in 2018.
